In this blog post, we will focus on the reasons why your site is not doing well in search engines, even if the site is ready to serve visitors and eventually even convert them into customers.
Your site may look good, but it won’t hold up to further scrutiny. In this case, your site does not rank for the desired search queries, or does not appear in any search queries. There are many reasons for this because search engine optimization it’s never easy. These are the most common reasons:
1) Google has not yet indexed your site
If you don’t add new content to your site on a regular basis, or if your site is new, then that could be the problem. Sometimes Google bots take a long time to look at your site. To speed up the process, submit a sitemap from your website to Google and in the Google search bar.
2) Your site is new
If your site is new, chances are it won’t rank high in search results. There is a simple reason for this: because you can’t. To rank high in search results, you need high-quality search engine optimized content and reliable inbound links to your site.
3) Blocked your site from being indexed by search engines
It may sound ridiculous, but we have come across similar problems in our work. Check your site’s meta tags, robots.txt file, and Yoast SEO plugin settings to make sure important pages have the unindexed tag. Use this command to tell the search engine that you want the page to be indexed, that is, found in search results.
4) The keywords you use may not mean what they should.
Study and analyze what search terms people use to find your products or services in different situations. There are differences in the search periods when a user searches for information or a service/product. For example, when searching for “Marketing,” Google wants to show as much information as possible about what marketing is and how it’s done, so it doesn’t suggest the websites of companies that provide marketing services.

5) The keywords you use are highly competitive
There’s nothing wrong with fighting for search engine success with the keywords that get the most searches, but it’s more important to pick the right fight that you can win. If your competitor’s websites are stronger than yours, then it’s very difficult to get search engine exposure. Therefore, it makes more sense to choose less competitive search terms and make a good investment in such conditions while increasing the strength of your site and only then targeting key competitor terms.
6) Your content is low quality and not optimized for search engines
Your website has very little or poor quality content. Your site can also have a lot of content, which doesn’t always mean it’s high-quality. Long content usually gets results, but if a search term is used too often, that content can let you down and even reduce your chances of getting a good bang for your buck. Look at the content on the sites of the most successful competitors and simply improve the content, or at least fight for what they are doing.
7) You have problems under the hood
Imagine that the look of your website is a beautiful and flashy car, the interior is also perfect, but it is terribly uncomfortable to drive, and you leave it after the first trip in the garage and never drive it again. You certainly don’t want a potential customer to think that way about your website and therefore decide to purchase a product or service elsewhere. Google also measures and studies the behavior of visitors to its website.
Google can see deeper: There may be issues on your site that you don’t see. The most frequent problems:
- Duplicate content, ie. The site has multiple pages with the same content.
- Confusing site structure
- The site does not regularly update relevant content.
- Basic data depleted or misused, such as metadata
- Mobile Device Incompatibility
- Website loading slowly
8) Affiliates don’t pay attention to your content
An external link to your site is comparable to voting for your site. So another website votes that your content is relevant and useful when they link to your site on their site. This is how search engines interpret external links to your site, and if you get links from trusted sites, you can only count on increasing your return on the site. So make sure you create content that other websites want to share on their pages. We never recommend buying external links as they can cause the opposite reaction.
9) Google gave the command to freeze
Have you previously received good returns on one of your pages, but those pages suddenly disappeared from search results? This may be due to the fact that Google has suspended your site. You can check Google Search Console to see if Google has imposed such penalties on your site. If this is the case, the only option is to fix the following issues:
- Your site has been hacked
- Users of your site post malicious content on it.
- Hidden content from users trying to influence search results.
- Malicious external links to your site
- Malicious links from your website
- Malicious content on your website
10) You forgot about other digital marketing channels
There are many different channels that can be used in digital marketing. Everyone should use search engine optimization, keyword advertising, and social media advertising to create marketing mix functionality. Using other channels doesn’t have as direct an impact on rankings as many other factors, but Google interprets many signals beyond the ones it posts on its own site. By attracting users from different sources to your site, you often improve your ranking in search results.
11) Simply put, your competitors are one step ahead of you.
You are not the only one making these investments. Search engine optimization has become more prevalent in Finland at a tremendous rate in a short period of time and no one wants to be left behind. And of course you shouldn’t. Whatever you don’t do, I’m sure your opponent will. SEO is not a project that you can do a little from time to time, it is a constant battle with your competitors. If you’re one step ahead of them, it doesn’t mean it’s forever, you need to strive for achievements.
Take small steps to victory
If you want to get the most out of your website, then you have a lot of work to do. That’s why we should start SEO now and not next month. Even small steps can lead to great things.
